Remembering Estero's Coach Jeff Sommer - DyeStatFLPublished by
And I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from now on: Yes, said the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them.
Revelations 14:13
Coach Jeff Sommer from Estero was truly one of the good guys. Passionate. Caring. A coach I admired and always took pleasure seeing on the course or on the track. I knew him from the numerous times over the years that we conducted interviews one on one or through the many requests that he never hesitated to grant to talk to his athletes. Coach made me feel special at the events we attended together. He understood we shared a mutual passion for the sport and that hard work deserves recognition in a form that we could offer. His external family net is cast far and wide with numerous lives touched by the embodiment of his work and passion. He decided he could make a bigger difference with high school kids and never left for the allure of coaching in the college ranks. He wanted his kids, and that included everyone in the community, to learn how to deal with adversity, to challenge themselves and to grow as human beings into young adults and leaders of the future. Over his decades of mentoring, leading, and trusting, the passion and caring shined bright for all to see. We wish his loving wife, Sue, daughters Ashley and Jenny and son Adam, grandchildren, teams, community and friends, our deepest condolences.
